In the group match of the ICC Women’s T20 Cricket World Cup 2026, the Indian women’s team set a target of 171 runs to win the Pakistan women’s team.

In the match played at the Edgbaston stadium in Birmingham, the Indian team won against Pakistan and decided to bat first and lost 6 wickets for 170 runs in the allotted 20 overs.

After the Indian women’s cricket team’s first two wickets fell early, India’s middle-order came crashing down and did not allow the Pakistani players to run away, opener Smriti Mandhana played a brilliant knock of 68 runs.

India’s first wicket fell by 6 runs when Shafali Verma was caught by Sadia Iqbal for 6 runs. India’s second wicket against Pakistan in the match fell on 18 when Jemima Rodrigues scored 1 run and was bowled by Tasmia Rabab.

After losing the first two wickets for just 18 runs, India were under pressure as Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur took over the batting order.

However, first Mandhana and then skipper Harmanpreet Kaur were out, then the women’s national team tried to put pressure on India, but Richa Ghosh played a vital role in leading India to a big total, batting at lightning speed in the final overs.

Sadia Iqbal and Fatima Sana took 2 wickets each for Pakistan.

Before the start of the match, the supporters of both teams arrived at the stadium in large numbers to support their teams. After the kick-off, the two captains shook hands.

Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur said that the pitch looks very good for batting, so we decided to bat first. The last World Cup gave us confidence. Our goal is to implement our plan.

Pakistan Cricket Team Captain Fatima Sana said that Pakistan also wanted to bat first, as a team we are performing well in both the batting and bowling fields. We have a strong bowling unit.

“The ban looks good for batting but we also have a good relationship and expect a tough match,” he said.
