Ghanaian 2026 FIFA World Cup footballer Thomas Parte has been banned from entering Canada so he will not be able to play the first match of the World Cup.

According to media reports, Ghanaian midfielder Parte has been charged by the London police in 2025 due to allegations of sexual assault.

Ghana’s first match at the 2026 FIFA World Cup will be against Panama in Toronto, Canada, but Parte will miss the team’s first match following a decision by Canadian officials.

On the other hand, FIFA confirmed that Tomas Parte was prevented from entering Canada and said that the visa decision is made by the governments of the host countries, while the organization does not deal with immigration issues.

According to media reports, Partey has a total of seven rape charges and one sexual assault charge in the UK, and Canadian immigration law allows for denial of entry based on criminal charges or convictions.

Be aware that the Ghana team has already left for America for the ongoing World Cup in America, Canada and Mexico.
