With the victories of the defending champion Argentina in the FIFA World Cup, the debate about the controversial decisions of the referees has also increased.

According to reports, fans and observers of Egypt, England and other teams believe that Argentina benefited from some decisions made on important days.

After Egypt’s 2-3 defeat in the final, French referee Francois Latexier and his team were accused of double standards.

Egyptian coach Hussam Hassan said his team was treated unfairly and it was as if they were trying to keep the world champions in the tournament.

Egypt also protested that one of the goals was disallowed by VAR, no penalty was awarded and Argentina’s winning goal was accepted.

Several decisions against England in the semi-final were also discussed.

Enzo Fernandez was not cautioned despite a tough tackle and Lionel Messi’s alleged error saw the decision go in Argentina’s favour, prompting a backlash on social media.

Further questions arose when all the on-field officials and VAR referees for the quarter-final between France and Morocco were from Argentina, although no controversial decisions were made in the match.

On the other hand, there are also discussions about Lionel Messi’s early absence of a possible red card, the draw process and the easy way to defeat Argentina.

Despite this, experts say that controversial decisions should have been taken, but they cannot be considered as invalid evidence of a systematic conspiracy or bias in favor of Argentina.
