Bangladesh beat Pakistan by 23 runs in the group stage of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, the third consecutive defeat for the women’s national team at the event.

Chasing Bangladesh’s target of 124 runs, the national team scored just 100 runs for 8 wickets in the allotted 20 overs in this match played at Southampton.

Despite a brilliant start by the openers and a 49-run partnership for the first wicket, the women’s national team’s middle order failed to score another 75 runs in 12 overs.

Munibe Ali scored 25 runs, Gul Feroza scored 23 runs, Ayse Zafer scored 11 runs and captain Fatima Sana scored 10 runs. Apart from them, no batter could reach double digits.

For Bangladesh, Sanjid Akhtar and Nahida Akhtar took three wickets each, Rabia Khan and Ratu Muni bowled a wicket each.

Earlier, Bangladesh Women’s Team won the toss and elected to bat first and scored 123 runs for 6 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

On behalf of Bangladesh, Sharna Akhtar scored an unbeaten 39 runs off 22 balls, Nigar Sultana scored 36 runs and Subhana Mistry scored 22 runs.

On behalf of Pakistan, captain Fatima Sana dismissed 2 players with 18 runs in 4 overs and Sadiya Iqbal, Tasmia Rabab, Nashra Sindû and Tobia Hasan also took a wicket each.

It is worth remembering that the national team had already faced defeat in the matches against India and South Africa.
