Women’s T20 World Cup: Pakistan team’s failure continues

Pakistan suffered their fourth defeat in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, with Australia beating the Greens by 113 runs in a one-sided contest.

In the match played at Leeds, Australia won and decided to bat first and scored 199 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Veteran batsman Alysse Perry was impressive with 71 runs.

On behalf of Pakistan, Sadiya Iqbal, Ramin Shamim and Nashra Sindhu took 2 wickets each and captain Fatima Sana also dismissed a bowler.

The batting line-up of the Pakistan team failed to achieve the target of 200 runs. Apart from Muniba Ali, none of the batsmen could stay on the wicket for long and the entire team was bowled out for 86 runs in just 13.4 overs. Muniba Ali became Pakistan’s leading batsman with 32 runs.

For Australia, Annabelle Sutherland, Elise Perry and Sophie Mullenix took two wickets each, while Georgia Wareham took a wicket.

Pakistan Women’s team is undefeated so far and will play their last group match against Netherlands on June 27.
