Pakistan faced a heavy penalty and World Test Championship points deduction for a slow over-rate in the first Test against Bangladesh.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) fined Pakistan 40 percent of match fees and deducted eight points from the 2025-27 World Test Championship.
The Pakistan team missed the target 8 times, which led to a penalty.

After the drop in points, Pakistan have now slipped to eighth place in the World Test Championship standings with just four points.
ICC Elite Panel match referee Jeff Crowe gave this penalty to the Pakistan team.
According to ICC rules, a fine of five per cent of the match fee and one World Test Championship point are deducted for each offense.
Pakistan captain Shan Masood admitted the error and accepted the proposed penalty, after there was no need for a formal hearing.
