The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has temporarily lifted the suspension of the Russian Olympic Committee from October 2023.
The IOC says the Russian Olympic Committee has recognized the independent status of organizations in regions under Ukrainian jurisdiction.
The start of the qualifying phase for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics has paved the way for the return of Russian athletes, but strict anti-doping conditions will continue.
Russian athletes are required to pass multiple dope tests before returning and become part of the International Testing Agency’s monitoring program.
According to the IOC, the position against Russia’s attack on Ukraine has not changed, solidarity with Ukraine will remain.
The Olympic Committee says that the relevant international federations will decide on the organization of international competitions in Russia, the Russian flag and the national anthem.
According to Rossi, the IOC will continue to monitor the activities of the Olympic Committee and, if violations occur, further steps may be taken.
