The referee who was kicked out of the FIFA World Cup for raping a young man has died

Famous Dutch football referee Rob Depprink has died at the age of 38, his death has been confirmed by the Dutch Football Association.

According to reports, Rob DePrink was supposed to referee this year’s FIFA World Cup, but he was removed from the official list by FIFA after he was arrested in Britain on suspicion of sexually assaulting a young man.

Later, because there was no sufficient evidence in the police investigation, a case was opened and no action was taken against them.

Football referee Depprink said at the time that the allegations against him were baseless and that he had fully cooperated with the police, FIFA, UEFA and the Dutch Football Association. He also expressed his sadness over losing the World Cup.

Depprink started his career as a referee in the Eredivisie league in the Netherlands in 2017. He was also a Video Assistant Referee (VAR) at the 2024 European Championship and until recently refereed in the Dutch league.
