Report: Feyzan Lakhani. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has started changing the format of the ODI World Cup.
According to the British BBC news, there are proposals to increase the number of teams from 14 to 12 in the One Day World Cup. There is a possibility that the ‘Super Seven’ stage will be implemented in the 2027 World Cup.
According to the report, the change in the format of the tournaments will increase the traditional rivalry between India and Pakistan.
It is also proposed to add semi-finals to make the World Test Championship more exciting, a semi-final format is under consideration to increase the excitement of Test cricket among the middle order teams.
The ICCT is considering replacing the ‘Super Eight’ stage of the Twenty20 World Cup with a ‘Super Ten’, on the pattern of football, preparations have been accelerated to hold the World Club T20 tournament in cricket as well.
On the other hand, there is a possibility that mini-tournaments from four countries will be held in the future instead of mutual series.
