The 2026 FIFA World Cup has kicked off, with the first of three opening ceremonies in Mexico ahead of the first match to be played in Mexico.
During the ceremony, Shakira and Burna Boy sang the official song of the World Cup called Die Die, before Shakira entered, the World Cup was welcomed in Mexico with a traditional dance.
Mexican band Mana, Venezuelan Danny Ocean and Jay Balvin also performed at the opening ceremony.
Mexico and South Africa face each other in the opening match of the World Cup.
It is worth mentioning that the co-hosts of the World Cup, Canada and the United States, will hold an opening ceremony before the first match.
