Former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja criticized the decision to drop Shan Masood as Test team captain, saying he was unfairly blamed for the poor results even though he had a mediocre quality squad.
Babar Azam was named captain of the national test team for the tours of West Indies and England, while Shaun Masood’s tenure ended after missing 12 out of 16 matches, including the recent Test series whitewash of Bangladesh.
Ramiz Raja spoke on his YouTube channel and said that Shan Masud was made the target of slaughter even though he was not given a team to expect better results.
He said, “If I were Shaan Masood, I would have submitted a written complaint against this decision. He said, when a captain often gets middle players, one cannot expect different results and ultimately all the responsibility lies on the shoulders of the captain.”
He warned that Babar Azam might face the same situation as he has been given almost the same core group as Shan Masood.
It is worth mentioning that Pakistan will play two Test matches against West Indies from July 25 and after that the national team will visit England where three Test matches are scheduled there. Babar Azam will lead the national test team for the third time.
