The former captain of the Indian T20 team, Surya Kumar Yadav, broke his silence on the decision to remove him from the captaincy and from the team.
Speaking on the sidelines of the toss of the domestic match in Mumbai, he expressed good wishes for new captain Shreyas Iyer instead of any upset. He said he is happy to take over the leadership of Shreyas T20 team.
Suryakumar Yadav added that they have played cricket together in Mumbai and it is interesting that India’s last three T20 captains – Rohit Sharma, himself and now Shreyas Iyer – all hail from the same city.
It is worth recalling that Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar had said in a press conference that despite winning the T20 World Cup, this decision was taken because Suriya Kumar Yadav has recently declined in form and future strategy.
According to him, Shreyas Iyer has been appointed as the captain for the tours of Ireland and England as well as the upcoming Asian Games to prepare a strong team for the upcoming World Cup.
