Indian cricket team’s star batsman Surya Kumar Yadav has broken his silence on being dropped from the T20 team captaincy and quit the team.
Instead of expressing displeasure over the big verdict against him, Suriya wished the new captain Shreyas Iyer the best.
Speaking on the sidelines of the regional match in Mumbai, Surya Kumar said, “I am very happy to have Shreyas as the captain of the Indian T20 team.”
He also said that “We played all our cricket together in Mumbai and it’s amazing to see that the last three Indian T20 captain Rohit Sharma, myself and now Shreyas are from the same city, Mumbai.”
It is worth recalling that Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar had revealed in a press conference that despite winning the T20 World Cup, Surya Kumar’s recent lack of form and future strategy should be addressed.
He said that the selectors have appointed Shreyas Iyer as captain for the tours of Ireland and England as well as for the Asian games to be held in September-October this year to prepare a strong team for the upcoming World Cup.
