Pakistan’s cricket team suffered a major setback ahead of the upcoming ODI series against Australia, as opening batsmen Saeem Ayub and Fakhar Zaman were ruled out due to injuries.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed that the two players are yet to fully recover from their injury and will continue their rehabilitation program under the supervision of a medical panel, which will rule them out of the three-match ODI series against Australia.
According to the PCB, the series will begin on May 30 in Rawalpindi, while the second and third ODIs will be played on June 2 and 4 respectively at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
Saeem Ayub’s absence is considered a big loss for Pakistan as the young opener has been successful in ODI cricket since the start of 2024. On the other hand, Fakhar Zaman has also been an important part of Pakistan’s ODI batting line-up for a long time.
The PCB wished both the players a speedy recovery and said that further updates regarding the fitness of the team and other players would be released soon.
