In the Pakistan Super League (PSL) match 11, Peshawar Zalmi defeated Islamabad United by 70 runs to reach the final. Peshawar Zalmi participated in the final for the fifth time.
In the match played in Karachi, after Peshawar Zalmi’s target of 222 runs, Islamabad United was bowled out for 151 runs.
Islamabad United won and Peshawar invited Zalmi to bat first, Zalmi scored 221 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
Captain Babar Azam scored his fourth century in the PSL. He was dismissed for 103 runs, his interceptions included 4 sixes and 12 fours.
Kaushal Mendes scored 41 runs, Muhammad Haris scored 35 and Aaron Hardy scored 20 runs.
On behalf of Islamabad United, Shadab Khan took 3 wickets, Richard Gleeson took 2 wickets, Salman Mirza and Faheem Ashraf took one wicket each.
In pursuit of the target, United started with Dion Conway and Sameer Minhas putting on a 58-run partnership for the first wicket.
At the end of the fifth over, Dion Conway was dismissed for 20 runs, then Muhammad Mohsin along with Samir Minhas ruled Islamabad United, but after Samir’s 44 runs and Mohsin’s 25 runs, neither player could play.
The vehicles of Islamabad United went down intermittently, in the last moments Imad Wasim scored 22 runs which was not enough for the team.
On behalf of Peshawar Zalmi, Aaron Hardy scored 3 wickets, Safian Muqim and Mohamed Basit scored 2, 2 and Khurrem Shehzad scored one wicket.
Peshawar captain Zalmi Babar Azam was Man of the Match for his good batting performance.
