Report: Soheyl Imran. Australian Test captain Pete Cummins has hinted at sacrificing his Indian Premier League (IPL) contract to prepare for next year’s Ashes series.
According to Australian media reports, Pete Cummins has hinted that he may sacrifice his IPL contract next year for national duty.
According to Australian media, Australia will play 21 Test matches in the next 12 months before next year’s IPL Ashes series with Pat Cummins considering an IPL retirement.
At some stage next year, I will have to make a decision and that decision will not come out of Test cricket or the ODI World Cup,” said Pat Cummins.
“I will make a decision about next year and see what is best with the franchise, things may change,” he said.
“My priority is always the Test matches and the ODI World Cup. If I play all the matches on the India tour, I will rest before a tough series like the Ashes,” the Australian captain said.
Australia are scheduled to play a 5-match Test series in India in January and February next year.
