The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the schedule for the 2026-27 domestic cricket season.
The season will begin from August 11 in Multan, keeping in view the preparations for the 2027 World Cup, starting with the Champions Trophy List A ODI tournament, apart from which the Ministerial ODI Trophy will also be played.
PCB increased the number of 18 teams from 16 regions to 20, 2 in Sialkot and Peshawar regions, 2 regional teams like Lahore and Karachi were given.
The red ball season will have Quaid-e-Azam Trophy Gold and Silver while President Trophy Grade One, Grade Two Gold and Grade Two Silver.
The three President Trophy tournaments will start from September 12, while the Quaid-e-Azam Gold and Silver Trophy will start from November 1.
8 teams will participate in Quaid-e-Azam Trophy Gold and 12 teams will participate in Silver.
Both divisions will retain first division status and will retain a one-team promotion and relegation system.
Both the gold and silver matches of the National T20 Cup will be held from February 5 to March 6 in Lahore.
The domestic season also includes special events for junior cricketers, including the U-19 3-day tournament, the U-19 National Cup, the U-19 National Championship, the U-15 ODI National Cup and the U-17 tournament.
PCB Director General Domestic Osama Sharon said World Cup preparation is the board’s main focus, so the season starts with 2 ODI tournaments.
According to him, divisional cricket plays an important role in developing players and providing them with more opportunities, while giving red ball cricket to under-19 players will further develop their skills.
