The famous Brazilian footballer Neymar Jr announced his retirement after the Brazilian team was eliminated from the World Cup.

Neymar Jr has announced his retirement from international football following Brazil’s 2-1 World Cup defeat to Norway.

He announced his retirement and said: “I started my career in New York and now I’m finishing it here. I tried my best but now everything is over.”

The 34-year-old striker scored a career-best 80 goals for his national team in 130 matches in his international football career.

He made his debut in 2010 and represented Brazil in 4 World Cups.

The athlete also represented Brazil twice in the Olympic Games and won a silver medal in 2012 and a gold medal in 2016.

It is worth mentioning that Norway defeated the 5-time world champions Brazil in the quarter-finals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup and entered the quarter-finals, and it is the first time since 1990 that the Brazilian team did not reach the quarter-finals.
