Iran has officially announced its participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
This announcement comes at a time when the tension between Iran and the United States is at its highest level, but now the uncertainties in this area have ended.
According to the announcement of the Iranian government, the national football team is fully ready to participate in this world event and all the final preparations have been completed.
Speaking to the state media, Government Spokesperson Fatima Mahajrani said that the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs has completed its steps to provide the best facilities to the team so that the players can perform well at the international level.
Statements about Iran’s sports minister had previously indicated his non-participation, but the recent revelation dispelled those doubts.
On the other hand, despite the ongoing tensions in the area and recent military conflicts, the Iranian authorities have made it clear that sports activities are not affected by the political situation.
It is worth mentioning that the situation has improved after the recent ceasefire brokered by Pakistan, which confirmed Iran’s participation.
On the other hand, news sources reveal that Trump’s special representative, Paolo Zampoli, has asked FIFA President Gianni Infantino to include 4-time world champion Italy in the World Cup instead of Iran.
