The International Cricket Council (ICC) has released its annual rankings, with Australia’s men’s Test and women’s one-dayers retaining their top position.
In the annual update, matches from May 2025 onwards are given 50 percent (100 percent) weightage, while results from the previous two years are given 50 percent weightage.
In the men’s Test standings, Australia remain at the top with 131 points, while South Africa remain at the top with 119 points.
India moved up to the third place with 102 points (104), while England took the fourth place with 102 points. The main reason for England’s relegation is the elimination of old match rankings, especially the record of winning series against New Zealand, South Africa and Pakistan.
Pakistan also took advantage and moved up a spot with 89 points, the national team rose from 7th to 6th in the Test rankings, an increase of 7 points. Sri Lanka’s Test rankings are 7th, West Indies 8th, Bangladesh 9th and Zimbabwe 11th to 10th.
In the top 10, Ireland dropped out due to not playing the required matches. Ireland and Afghanistan will have to play at least two Tests next year to rematch.
Australia also lead the women’s ODI series with 163 points, although their score has dipped slightly. England is in second place with 128 points.
India Women 3rd, South Africa Women 4th, New Zealand 5th and Sri Lanka 6th.
Bangladesh women’s team is in seventh place with 73 points and Pakistan is in eighth place with 72 points.
According to ICC, the T20 rankings will be released on May 5, while the men’s ODI team rankings will be released on May 7.
