Report: Feyzan Lakhani. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has declared the pitches of Gaddafi Stadium Lahore and Lord’s Cricket Ground London unfit. Both places received excellent points each.
According to the statement issued by the ICC, England and New Zealand played at Lord’s, and the third ODI between Pakistan and Australia was played at the Gaddafi Stadium, and the referees of the match expressed their concerns.
According to the ICC, Lord and Pycroft’s Test match umpire said the balance of the bat and ball was affected by unusual sea movement and an unexpected inflow on Lord’s pitch.
Meanwhile, Australia’s Pakistan ODI umpire Graeme La Broy said in his report that the pitch at the Gaddafi Stadium was slow and lacked drainage. The pitch was not up to the standard of ODI cricket, the spinners were helped from the start.
The ICC sent the report to the English Cricket Board (ECB) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and gave them 14 days to appeal.
It is worth mentioning that there was no bad point against Lord and Gaddafi Stadium before.
According to ICC rules, one demerit point is awarded for an unsatisfactory catch and three demerit points for a bit of non-play.
A venue can be banned from hosting international cricket for one year at 6d points of merit and two years at 12th points of merit.
