A former New Zealand priest was banned for 2 years for using cocaine.

According to British media reports, 35-year-old Bracewell used cocaine in last year’s county championship final.

The former New Zealand fast bowler tested positive on September 25 when Bracewell also admitted to using cocaine while representing Essex at the event.

According to the news of the English press, despite his retirement from international cricket, Bracewell has been banned for 2 years because of a positive drug test.

The report added that Braceville recognized the 2-year ban as a penalty for using cocaine, while Essex County would be exempt from the penalty.

New Zealand was also banned for one month in 2024 for using cocaine.

Bracewell made his debut against Bangladesh in 2011, represented New Zealand in 69 international matches and announced his retirement from Harter cricket in 2025.
