The 2026 FIFA World Cup has entered its final stage with the title being decided tonight between defending champions Argentina and 2010 world champions Spain. Before this big competition, the artificial intelligence (AI) based super computer also released its prediction.
The final in New York will start at 12:00 PM Pakistan time. This is the second World Cup final in Spain’s history while Argentina are playing in the final for the seventh time, but Opta’s AI supercomputer, which analyzes sports data, has declared Spain as favourites.
According to the report, the supercomputer based on 25,000 digital simulations has predicted that Spain has a 59.6 percent chance of becoming the world champion and Argentina has a 40.4 percent chance of winning.
According to the simulation, the probability that Spain will win the match in the specified 90 minutes is 45 percent, and the probability that the match will go to extra time is 29 percent.
On the other hand, Argentina has a 26 percent chance to win in the allotted time.
Although the AI model has given Spain a slight edge, the eyes of football fans are now on which team will play the best game on the pitch and lift the FIFA World Cup 2026 trophy.
It should be noted that the Opta supercomputer is basically not a traditional physical computer but a model based on artificial intelligence (AI) technology that is used to predict sporting events.
