In the second quarter-final of the FIFA World Cup 2026, Spain booked their place in the semi-finals by beating Belgium 1-2 after a thrilling encounter.
In the match played in the American city of Los Angeles, the former world champion Spain presented an aggressive game from the beginning. Fabian scored Spain’s first goal in the 30th minute and the team advanced.
Belgium did not give up and in the 41st minute De Catalari scored a goal and the match was 1-1. In this tournament, he scored the first goal against Spain.
When the match went to the decisive stage, Spain attacked again and in the 88th minute, Mikel Merino scored a beautiful goal and his team won 1-2.
Belgium could not come back until the end of the allotted time, thus Spain won 1-2 and entered the semi-finals.
Earlier, France advanced to the semi-finals with their quarter-final victory, while Spain’s victory made the competition for the last four stages of the event even more interesting.
