In the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Paraguay beat Germany in a penalty shoot-out to advance to the pre-quarter-16 stage of the mega event.

The two teams drew 1-1 at the end of regulation time and extra time in the Round of 32 thriller at Boston Stadium, before going to a penalty shoot-out, which saw Paraguay beat four-time world champions Germany to advance to the next round.

According to reports, in the first half of the game, Germany was in possession of the ball most of the time, but in the 42nd minute of the last moments of the first half, Julio Enseco from Paraguay scored a goal with a header and the team went ahead 0-1.

Germany came back strongly at the beginning of the second half and in the 54th minute Kai Huertz scored a goal with a header and the match was 1-1.

It should be noted that after that, Germany tried hard to score a decisive goal, while Paraguay was also trying to attack, but the match ended in a tie and after that the penalties started.

Germany took the lead in penalties when Paraguay’s goalkeeper saved a penalty. After both teams missed a number of penalties, Jose Canales held his nerve and scored a decisive penalty to give Paraguay a memorable victory and the match ended 4-3 in Paraguay’s favor on penalties.

On the other hand, after the victory, the Paraguayan players and their fans celebrated enthusiastically in the stadium, while the German team looked depressed and bored.

Paraguay will now face the winner of the France-Sweden match on July 4 in Philadelphia in the quarter-finals.
