Brazil’s star footballer Neymar will not be able to play his team’s first match in the World Cup due to injury.
Brazil coach Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that the specialist forward will not be available for Saturday’s match against Morocco.
The 34-year-old Neymar has been dealing with a calf problem for some time and has yet to start full training.
According to Ancelotti, Neymar’s rehabilitation is ongoing and he is expected to participate in regular training with the team next week.
Due to this situation, his participation in the match against Haiti on June 20 is not clear.
The Brazilian coach said that Neymar is working hard to get fit as soon as possible.
He also said: Neymar’s importance is not only limited to his technical skills, but his experience and example for young players is also very valuable for the team.
Neymar has not featured in the national team since 2023 but did feature in the World Cup.
Brazil’s record holder Neymar has scored 79 goals in 128 international matches and this could be his fourth World Cup.
