Norway beat Senegal 2-3 in an exciting match thanks to a brilliant performance by Erling Holland.
In the match played in New Jersey, Holland scored two goals and played a central role in the victory of his team.
Norway took the lead in the first half when substitute Marcus Pedersen took advantage of Senegal’s weak defense to slot the ball into the net.
At the beginning of the second half, Holland made it 0-2 with a great pass from Martin Odegaard.
Ismaila Saar made the match interesting by scoring a goal for Senegal, but Holland scored two more goals a few minutes later to build the lead.
Erling’s goal also set a new record in the World Cup in Norway.
His tally of goals at the FIFA World Cup was 4, more than double the number of goals scored by a Norwegian player at the event.
Senegal’s Saar scored his second goal in extra time and had a chance to equalize in the last minute, but his header went wide.
Norway progressed from the group with France to the next stage after their second straight win, while Senegal need to win their final match against Iraq to keep their hopes alive.
