BOSTON:

England failed to continue their impressive form at the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the match played against Ghana ended in a goalless draw.

In this match that was played at the Boston stadium, England did not present an aggressive and lively game like in their first match when they won over Croatia. This time, the team faced challenges in front of Ghana’s regular defensive strategy.

During the match, it took 57 minutes for England to get the first shot on target, while the defensive line was often under pressure.

Ghana troubled England with quick counter-attacks and the match looked disjointed and disjointed for the most part.

Coach Thomas Tuchel made a change to break the deadlock, bringing on Bokayo Saka and replacing Jude Bellingham with Morgan Rodgers.

Goalkeeper Saka attempted a good shot that was successfully saved by Ghanaian goalkeeper Benjamin Asare.

Similarly, Nicholas O’Reilly’s header hit the crossbar when Mark Gehry’s surefire goal was blocked on the line. England continued to press but could not score the decisive goal.

In the final minutes of the match, England had a huge relief when Ghana’s penalty appeal was turned down, with Ezri Konsa’s tackle ruled offside by the referee.

England remain top of Group L after this result but need to win their next match against Panama to progress to the club stage.
