The co-hosts of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Canada beat South Africa 1-0 to advance to the pre-quarterfinals, making it to the mega event for the first time.

In the first half of the match played at the Los Angeles Stadium, the South African team was heavy, their players attacked the Canadian goal from time to time but could not win.

On the other hand, Canada tried their best to win in this half, but they also failed to win and neither team could score a goal in the first half.

In the second half, both sides showed some momentum in the game, but neither could get a hold.

Then, on a move in injury time, Canada got a chance, their player Stephen Stockiollo firing the ball into the opposing net to give the team a lead that was enough for Canada to win.

The Canadian team reached the pre-quarterfinals for the first time in the history of the mega event. They will face Holland or Morocco in the round of 16.
