Brazil qualified for the 2026 FIFA World Cup pre-quarter-finals after beating Japan 1-2 in a thrilling encounter.
In the Round of 32 match played at Houston Stadium, Japan got off to a good start in the first half with Kaisho Sano scoring a goal to give Japan the lead in the 29th minute of the game.
In the second half, Brazil came back strongly and in the 56th minute, Semero shot the ball into the net and the match was tied at 1-1.
Brazil’s Gabriel Martinelli scored the decisive goal in injury time and gave Brazil a 1-2 win.
With the win, Brazil advanced to the pre-quarterfinals, where they will face the winner of the Cote d’Ivoire-Norway match on July 5 at the New Jersey Stadium.
On the other hand, Japan’s dream of winning the FIFA World Cup qualifier for the first time did not come true.
