In the second semi-final of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, defending champions Argentina defeated England 2-1 to advance to the final.

After 24 years in the mega event, both teams competed to reach the final. Messi captained Argentina while England fans were hoping for Harry Kane, but both players failed to score.
Argentina’s E. Fernandez ended Britain’s lead in the 85th minute and in extra time Lautaro Martinez scored from Messi’s magnificent pass to give Argentina the lead that lasted until the final minutes of the match.
It is worth mentioning that Spain reached the final after defeating France.
