America gave a visa to the Iranian football team to participate in the World Cup.
According to Reuters, a White House official confirmed the issuance of visas to the Iranian team on Friday.
Before now, the ambassador of Iran in Mexico, Abolfazl Hafisat, said on Thursday night that the US visas for the national forces were not issued. However, according to the White House, all required visas were issued overnight.
Iran, who are in Group G, will begin their World Cup campaign against New Zealand on June 15 in Los Angeles. The second match is against Belgium in Los Angeles and the last group match against Egypt in Seattle.
It is worth mentioning that due to the ongoing tension between Iran and America, Iran’s participation in the World Cup was uncertain. A few days before the start of the event, the visa for the Iranian team was given by the United States.
