In a thrilling FIFA World Cup 2026 Group H match, Saudi Arabia once again came close to a huge upset but could not grab the win as Uruguay scored in the dying minutes to level the match.
The first half of the match was called Saudi Arabia, where Abdullah Al-Omari scored a goal and advanced his team.
The goal came when Uruguay goalkeeper Fernando Muslera tried to head a corner, but the rebound went into the net.
The Saudi Arabian team adopted a brilliant defensive strategy in the first half and once again tried to surprise the world like they did by defeating Argentina in the 2022 World Cup.
However, in the second half, Uruguay coach Marcelo Bielsa changed the strategy and made two important changes in which striker Darwin Nunez was also removed to increase the team’s pace.
After this change, Uruguay increased the pressure on the match and Saudi Arabian goalkeeper Muhammad Al Owais made some excellent saves to keep his team in the match.
However, the pressure finally paid off around the 80th minute when Maxi Arrojo headed it back into the net to level the scores.
Uruguay made many attacks in the last minutes of the match, Federico Valverde scored a dangerous goal, but the goalkeeper of Saudi Arabia showed a great reaction and broke it.
At the end of the match both teams got a point each and Group H is now completely open as the qualification race becomes more interesting.
