A number of key changes will be considered at the upcoming meeting of the International Cricket Council, including the use of red and pink balls in the same Test match, as well as receiving technology support for illegal bowling actions.

If these changes are approved, they will go into effect on October 1, 2026.

In the virtual meeting of the Executive Committee (CEC) on May 21, a working group recommended that the red ball should be replaced with a pink ball if there is a weather failure in a Test match and it is played under lights.

According to the proposals, the change will only be possible if both teams agree and the referees allow it, a rule similar to the DRS system that requires the consent of both teams.

Under the proposed illegal bowling action, umpires may have access to Hawkeye data to check the action of bowlers who pitch their arm more than 15 degrees during a match.

The ICCT is also considering a proposal to reduce the interval between innings from 20 minutes to 15 minutes in 20 international matches.

Also, in ODI cricket, captains can be allowed to visit the field during the drinks break and talk to the players, a facility that already exists in T20.
