Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif congratulated the Pakistan football team, coaches and management for defeating Afghanistan in the final of the 2026 Diamond Jubilee International Football Tournament.
Shehbaz Sharif said on the X social network: this historic achievement is a source of pride for the entire nation, Pakistan’s football team has highlighted the country’s name on the world stage by showing sportsmanship, great will and teamwork.
He said that this is the first official international football tournament title in the history of Pakistan, which is an important milestone for the development of national sports and young players.
It is worth mentioning that in the final of the four-nation football competition, which was played at the national stadium of Maldives, Pakistan defeated Afghanistan 0-2 with the good performance of Sheikh Dost and Haroon Hameed.
