The England Cricket Board (ECB) has included captain Ben Stokes and fast bowler Gus Atkinson in the squad for the third Test against New Zealand after completing its investigation into the nightclub incident.
According to the ECB, the two players had breached the interests of England Cricket and certain clauses of the contract, for which they were not considered for the second Test.
In the investigation of the board, it was also determined that the two players cannot be held responsible for the violence that took place in the night club.
According to the ECB, Ben Stokes was not involved in the brawl nor was he a witness to either incident, while the available evidence shows that Gus Atkinson was the target of random attacks and did not respond at any point.
After the disciplinary action was over, both players were reinstated for the third Test.
In the first test match between New Zealand and England played at Lord’s, the home team won by 115 runs, in the second test played at the Oval, the visiting team won the match by 253 runs and the third test match of the series will be played from June 25 in Nottingham.
