Babar Azam’s return to T20 as captain has been ruled out.

According to reports, Babar Ezam beat Fakher Zaman’s record with 588 runs in PSL 11, and Peshawar Zalmi won the title under his leadership.

Rumors have been rife ever since the PCB is considering replacing Salman Ali Agha with Babar Azam as the T20 captaincy, when a senior personality was asked about it, he gave a firm ‘no’.

Sources said that till now the think tank has not done anything like that, everyone is focusing on Test matches to get better results in ICC Championship, T20 will be considered when the time comes.

Sources said that T20 is a game for youngsters who play in a modern style, they will be given priority to try it. Earlier, white-ball coach Mike Hesson was also against Babar Azam’s T20, but this year, despite this, he was included in the World Cup squad.

The former captain scored only 91 runs in 6 matches, the team’s performance was also substandard, still it is not easy to make Babar the captain only on the basis of PSL.

The star batsman has a strike rate of 128 in T20 Internationals, while he scored around 146 in the recent Super League.

It is worth remembering that Babar Azam led the T20 for the last time in the 2024 World Cup, after him Muhammad Rizwan and then Salman Ali Akha performed this duty in a few matches.

Pakistan won 31 out of 50 matches during Salman’s tenure, but their batting performance did not live up to expectations.

Under Babar’s leadership, the team won 48 out of 85 matches.

It should be noted that the Pakistan team’s next T20 assignment will be a three-match series against Sri Lanka in October.
