An important meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar, to review the preparations for the 2027 SAARC Games in Pakistan.
According to the statement of the Spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was decided in the meeting that the Secretariat of SAARC Games should be established in Islamabad immediately and the process of modernization of the Sports Complex of Pakistan should be accelerated.
Apart from this, important sub-committees will also be established to oversee financial affairs, infrastructure and sports facilities. In the meeting, the government reiterated its promise that the 2027 SAARC Games will be held according to international standards.
All possible support and facilities will be provided to the national sports federations for the preparation, training and best performance of the players. Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar said that the government is committed to promote sports across the country and such international competitions will play an important role in projecting a positive and moderate image of Pakistan to the world.
Federal Minister for International Coordination Rana Sanaullah Khan, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Bajwa, Secretary for International Coordination, senior officials of provincial departments, Pakistan Sports Authority and other relevant government agencies were present in the meeting.
