Australian player Tim David has been fined 50 per cent of his match fee and charged with two demerit points for breaching the code of conduct in the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) final.
According to reports in India, Royal Challengers Bengaluru batsman Tim David threw an ice pack at the umpire in anger during the IPL 2026 final against Gujarat Titans, following which action was taken against him.
The incident happened in the tenth over of the first over, when Washington Sundar was caught and then the decision was not announced. Meanwhile, Tim David unfairly threw an ice pack at field umpire Nitin Menon.
It should be noted that as per clause 2.9 of the IPL Rules of Procedure, this offense involves throwing any object in an inappropriate or dangerous manner towards a player, official, umpire or third party.
Tim David admitted the foul and accepted the penalty awarded by match referee Javagal Srinath.
It’s worth noting that this was Tim David’s third level one violation of the season, having already received one demerit point in game number 20 and two demerit points in game number 54.
Thus, Tim David’s total points deficit has reached five, so he will not be able to play his team’s first match in the upcoming IPL season.
