The cheery colors of Christmas Day also spilled over to the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), where a Christmas Family Day was celebrated alongside an optional training session ahead of the Boxing Day Test.
On this occasion, the cricketers along with their families reached the MCG and there they exchanged flowers and chocolates.
Many cricketers including Australian opener Usman Khawaja played cricket at the ground with their families. Players from both teams shared the net in the optional training on Christmas Day.
Australian captain Steve Smith and England batsman Joe Root were seen batting together in the nets.
It should be noted that an optional training session is traditionally held before the Boxing Day Test and this is where the players celebrate Christmas with their families.
The Boxing Day Test of the Ashes will begin tomorrow at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
