28-year-old Indonesian right-arm fast bowler Gedde Priyandana became the first cricketer in the world to take 5 wickets in T20 international cricket.
He achieved this historic feat today in his first T20 International against Cambodia in Bali.
In the first T20 match played between the teams of the two countries, Cambodia won and invited Indonesia to bat, in response the Indonesian team scored 167 runs in the allotted 20 overs.
The Cambodian team chased down the target and scored 107 runs in 16 overs. In the first innings at the same stage, Gedde Priyandana completed a hat-trick in the first three balls with a devastating bowling performance and sent Shah Abrar Hussain, Nirmal Jeet Singh and Chanthoun Rathank back to the pavilion.
A dot ball followed, then Priyandana dismissed Mangdara Suk and Pal Venak to take five wickets in one over.
Previously, there were 14 instances of consecutive four-wicket hauls in T20 Internationals, the most famous being Sri Lanka’s Lasith Malinga who took four wickets in four overs against New Zealand in 2019.
