Report: Atiqur Rehman. The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) removed Imad Butt from the captaincy of the Pakistan Hockey Team before the World Cup and Abu Bakr became the new captain of the team.

Abubakar will lead the national team in the home series against Korea, PHF president Muhyiddin Wani decided on the recommendation of the development committee.

Before the Hockey World Cup, Pakistan Hockey Federation made a big decision, Imad Butt retired from captaincy and Abu Bakr was appointed as the new captain of Pakistan Hockey Team.

According to the PHF, Abubakar will lead the national team in the upcoming international competitions.

Pakistan Hockey Federation President Mohiuddin Ahmed Wani took this decision on the recommendation of the Professional Development Committee, according to PHF, Imad Shakeel Butt will remain as a senior player in the team.

PHF hopes that under the leadership of Abu Bakr, with the experience of senior players and the talent of young players, the team will develop in a unified and strong manner.

Abu Bakr will lead the team in the home series against Korea starting on July 30.

It is worth remembering that FIH Hockey World Cup will start from August 15, Netherlands and Belgium will be the host countries of the mega event.

16 teams will participate in the event, divided into four groups of 4 each.

The Pakistan team will face England, Wales and arch-rivals India in Group D. The match between Pakistan and India will be played on August 19.
