West Indies won the first match of the two-Test series against Pakistan and elected to bat first.
Speaking after getting the wicket, West Indies captain Ruston Chase said the pitch looked good for batting in the early stages, with his spinners playing a vital role later on on a deteriorating wicket.
Pakistan captain Babar Azam said that he also wanted to bat first, but now he will try to take advantage of the early moisture in the wicket and reach the wicket early.
Pakistan’s 33-year-old left-arm spinner Ali Usman is making his Test cricket debut in this match, which is also the 100th match of Babar Azam’s first-class career, a milestone for him.
The Test will be played at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy, where a Test match will be played for the first time in history. It became the 13th Test venue in the Caribbean.
