FIFA has opened an official disciplinary investigation against Argentina following the turbulent events following their World Cup final defeat against Spain.
The world governing body of football (FIFA) has appointed a disciplinary and ethical prosecutor to investigate the events that happened after the final whistle.
As a result of the investigation, the players or coaching staff involved may be banned and the Argentine Football Association may be fined.
In the final of the World Cup, Spain beat Argentina 0-1 and became the champion, and there was a conflict between the players and the officials of the two teams.
According to reports, Nahuel Molina, Leandro Paredes, Thiago Almada and assistant coach Roberto Ayala were part of the discussion.
FIFA revealed that although Paredes’ red card was initially announced, it was later removed from the register and no disciplinary action was taken against him at that time.
Earlier, Enzo Fernandez of Argentina was dismissed for two yellow cards.
FIFA is already investigating another case against Argentina in which players raised a political banner related to the Falkland Islands after beating England in the semi-finals.
In the past, Argentina’s team has been fined and banned for inappropriate behavior and controversial celebrations.
According to FIFA rules, players or officials can also be banned worldwide if they are proven to have brought the game into disrepute or breached the rules of decency.
