The sources told Express News that along with Shan Masood, the name of the former captain Babar Azam has also been proposed for the leadership of the Test team and some of the board officials are in favor of handing over the captaincy to Babar Azam.
According to information, several people among the officials of the board are in favor of giving another chance to Shan Masud to become the captain of the Test team until the tour of England.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi will take the final decision on the national team’s test captain and the team captain and potential players will be announced after the board chairman’s return.
Pakistan’s Test squad is expected to be announced on Monday or Tuesday, after which the 16-member squad will report to Islamabad on July 8, with the team expected to leave for the West Indies on July 13 or 14 after a short camp.
The Pakistan team is scheduled to play two Test matches in the West Indies, after a 3-Test series with England.
It is worth mentioning that the Pakistani team is currently ranked last in the ICC Test Championship.
