Pakistan White Ball Cricket team coach Mike Hesson has revealed the reason for selecting a team consisting of young players for the 2026 Asian Games and said that the purpose of this decision is to expand the field of talented players before the next World Cup.
In an interview with Naji TV, Mike Hessen said that Pakistan wants to conduct a thorough evaluation of the youth crisis in the next six months to select the best and balanced team for the World Cup.
“We want to expand our pool of players and test young talent so we can make the right decisions for the World Cup,” he said.
The head coach said that Pakistan’s ODI team is constantly developing, while the Asian Games will provide the best opportunity for young players to prove themselves at the international level.
He added that the selected team is balanced and includes players who are more suited to the shorter style of cricket.
Mike Hessen said that the Asian games are not limited to the match against India, but Afghanistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are also strong opponents.
He said that we cannot prepare only one team in front of us, many teams can show danger, so we have chosen a balanced team.
