Two matches were played in Group H of the FIFA World Cup, one between Uruguay and Spain and the other between Cape Verde and Saudi Arabia.
In the match played at the Estadio Guadalajara Stadium, Spain beat Uruguay 1-0 and won first place in Group H, Uruguay was eliminated from the tournament in the group stage.
In the 42nd minute, Alex Baena controlled the ball and sent a sensational shot into the net.
Uruguay’s troubles increased in extra time when Augustin Canobio received a red card for Pau, but the win went to Spain.
Spain’s win moved them into 32nd place in Group H, where they will face Group J in Los Angeles on July 2, as Uruguay’s World Cup journey ends in the group stage.
The second match of Group H was played at the Houston Stadium where the match between Saudi Arabia and Cape Verde ended in a draw.
It is worth mentioning that in the FIFA World Cup 2026, Cabo Verde made history by playing without a goal against Saudi Arabia and entered the elimination stage for the first time, and Saudi Arabia entered the competition with the last position in Group H.
Cabo Verde will face champions Argentina on July 3 in Miami in the knockout stage.
