Training programs for cricketers should improve technical skills along with fitness: Mike Hessen

Pakistan White Ball Cricket Team coach, Mike Hesson, while explaining the details of the ongoing training camp at the National Cricket Academy, said that in the first two weeks, the focus was on the medical examination and fitness test of the players to accurately assess their current physical condition.

Speaking to the Pakistan Cricket Board’s digital platform, Mike Hessen said that from next week, work will begin on improving the technical skills of the players along with fitness.

He said that most players who play different formats do not get a chance for long training sessions, but this time around three months can significantly improve fitness and physical strength.

Mike Hesson, Director of Sports Medicine and Science of Pakistan, Dr. Javed praised Mughal and said that he has set high standards in terms of fitness and medical examination. According to him, players need to be very fit and strong to meet the demands of international cricket.

He said that at the beginning of each camp, the players, coaching staff, medical team and fitness experts hold a joint meeting, where an individual performance plan is prepared for each player.

Mike Hesson also praised the talent of Pakistan’s budding young players and said that at the U-19 level, many talented crisis players are being given quality training to play an effective role for the national team in the future.

He said that the team being prepared for the Asian Games has the best mix of young and experienced players, while this camp will also play an important role in preparations for the World Cup in a year and a half.
