Qatar midfielder Asim Madibo has been banned for 5 matches for seriously injuring Canadian midfielder Ismail Kone during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The FIFA Disciplinary Committee suspended Asim Madibo for 5 matches for serious foul play, but this decision can be appealed.
According to this report, 29-year-old Asim Madibo received a red card in last week’s match on June 19 against Canada.
Qatar lost 0-6 in the match, Canadian midfielder Ismail Kone was seriously injured by Madibo.
Ismail Kone, 24, has broken the tibia and fibula bones in his left leg, ruling him out of the rest of the World Cup, according to FIFA.
It is worth mentioning that the Canadian player underwent surgery immediately after the match in Vancouver and Asim Madibo visited him in the hospital.
