Report: Faizan Lakhani. Ivory Coast have suffered a major setback ahead of their crucial match against Germany at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, as striker Ali Wahey has been banned from Canada and will miss the match against Germany.
The Ivory Coast Football Federation has confirmed that Ali Wahi has failed to obtain the visa approval required to enter Canada, meaning he will not be able to take part in the match against Germany.
According to the federation, Eli Wahi will stay in America when the Ivory Coast team arrives in Canada for the match.
23-year-old Eli Wahi represented Ivory Coast in the first match of the World Cup against Ecuador.
Wahi was arrested last month in France for investigating the scene of the incident, but the investigation against him is still ongoing.
Eli Wahi is the second player to be banned from Canada at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Earlier, Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Parte was also denied a Canadian visa.
